This is an interactive three-part professional development webinar series presented by IWK Health Centre. Through sessions, features such as Zoom breakout rooms will be used to engage participants in discussions. Attendees should attend in sequence or watch missed sessions they are not able to attend.

Nov 24th : Trauma Informed Care and application to clients. This session will introduce participants to the topics of trauma and Trauma Informed Care. Content will explore the relationship between stress and trauma as well as the prevalence and neurobiological experience of trauma in the brain. Participants will be invited to consider trauma informed strategies to support clients reflected in best practice guides. Session will give participants an opportunity to interact with each other as well as with the presenters as they reflect on existing strategies available in their respective organizations as well as strategies which they may want to consider in the future.
Dec 1st : Trauma Informed Care and application to staff. This session will introduce participants to potential experiences which most professional caregivers encounter. Content will give participants an opportunity to reflect on their own past and current experiences which influence them in their daily work tasks. Session will give participants an opportunity to interact with each other and share common workplace experiences as well as existing strategies they utilize to establish and/or maintain a healthy work-life balance. Presenters will offer some examples of practical coping strategies as well as time during the session to practice the strategies.
Dec 8th : Trauma Informed Care considerations for organizations and systems. This session will invite participants to consider how the content and material from the two previous sessions can be applied in a systemic way.
